I Might Be Crazy

I don’t know why I don’t seem to learn from past mistakes. I get these ideas in my head, and just run with it. The newest brilliant idea of mine was to take 9 12 year olds to a nail salon to get manicures and pedicures for my daughters 12th birthday party. Sounds fun huh. In all fairness it didn’t turn out that bad, the girls were really great. I just realized right before we left what I had agreed to.

This of course isn’t the craziest party I’ve thrown for one of my kids, I have a long track record of over doing it. One of these days I’ll come to my senses, and have a simple home party.Â

Spring Wedding Favors

I’ll admit it, I have spring fever, I can’t wait for warmer weather, and spring flowers. So when I saw this wedding favor I totally fell in love with it. It is a darling berry basket. I have to say that berries are my favorite food, and they are so springy. It’s a great idea to get away from the traditional candy that everyone else has at there wedding, and do something unique. I can see how keeping the strawberries fresh could be problematic, but it looks oh so easy to assemble for a great DIY project. (Basket idea and photo courtesy of MarthaStewart.com)

Hawaii Here We Come

ALOOOHAA It is official we are going to Hawaii. It has been so many years since my last trip there I am beside myself with excitement. My husband co-produces the Hawaii Bridal Expo at the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, so he gets the chance to go pretty regularly. I on the other hand get to stay home with the kids who are in school, but not this year. We have decided to take the whole family (plus some good friends of ours) on a family vacation.

Since my husband is from Hawaii I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal planning a trip like this, boy was I wrong. When traveling with children, and as many people as we are bringing I found that the logistics are a little more trouble than I thought. That’s were our travel agent came in. Linda with Totem Travel has been great, she has been a real life saver.

Our first family ride of the season

Yeah spring is here. Oh how I love the warm weather. (even if our unseasonably warm weather is only a brief tease) Warm weather brings many things that I love children’s laughter outside, flowers blooming, trips to the park for a picnic, but most of all it is the beginning of 4 wheeling season! We took our kids, and there cousins out to five mile for some fun family time tearing it up in the dirt. I was a little nervous about taking the cousins out because I was so sure they were going to hate it, but to my great surprise they loved it as much as my kids did. They got brief lessons on basic driving, and off they went like pro’s. By the end of the day one of them was riding by himself, and the next one was driving by himself with an adult on the back, just in case.

Wedding Postage Price Drops

Thanks to the great gals at WeddingBee.com I found out that the price of postage for wedding invitations has dropped from $0.63 to $0.58! Now I understand that this isn’t a huge drop, and by itself won’t totally save your wedding budget, but how often do you hear about the USPS dropping prices. You can find out more about it here.

Date Night

My daughter turned 12 (yeah) this is what I’ve been waiting for, a free babysitter. Yes, I have used her to watch her little brother, on short trips to the grocery store but there is something more official about being 12.

So my hubby and I decided to go on a date night. We have never been to Octavio’s before (in American Fork) so we decided to try it out. I want to apologize to everyone who loves the restaurant in advance, but I was not impressed. Not only was the food so so, but our waitress didn’t even bring me the meal I ordered instead she brought me her favorite dish.

I know I need to be a little more assertive, but I didn’t know what to say so I just ate it and didn’t say anything. We took some cheese cake home with us for later (my favorite) and that was also just ok. Needless to say we won’t be going back.

The good news is my daughter only had to call me once while we were out, and that was to ask were the drain stopper was for the sink, because she was trying to surprise me by cleaning the whole kitchen including mopping the floor but she couldn’t find the stopper. What an angel.
